Garcia backs global schedule as Fireballs stars thrive on The International Series

Sergio Garcia arrives in Morocco believing The International Series is playing an increasingly important role in developing young talent and growing golf globally. The Fireballs GC captain brings strong recent form to Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, where he will also enjoy a special week with wife Angela on the bag.

Sergio Garcia believes The International Series is becoming an increasingly important platform in shaping the next generation of golfers while expanding the game’s reach to new audiences worldwide, as the Fireballs GC captain prepares for his seventh appearance on the Series at this week’s International Series Morocco presented by Visit Morocco.

The 2017 Masters champion arrives at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam as part of a formidable international field featuring 18 LIV Golf players, including fellow team captain Bubba Watson. Garcia comes into the week in solid form, following a runner-up finish at LIV Golf Virginia in May and a fourth-place result at LIV Golf Andalucía last week.

The Spaniard has also enjoyed notable success across his previous International Series appearances, highlighted by a fourth-place finish at International Series Macau presented by Wynn in 2025. Morocco also marks a personal milestone, with Garcia making his debut visit to the country this week.

“Yeah, it’s always fun, like Bubba mentioned, coming to a new place,” said Garcia. “Funny enough, even though I’m from Spain, I’ve never been to Morocco, as close as it is.”

Adding to the experience this week, Garcia has a familiar presence on his bag, with his wife Angela stepping in as his caddie.

“It’s great to be here with my wife, Angela. She’s going to be caddying for me this week, so that’s going to be a fun experience for both of us,” he said.

“We played nine holes yesterday and enjoyed the course. It’s in great shape. The greens are very tricky with a lot of movement on them, but it’s a beautiful-looking golf course. We’re excited to see a new culture and experience it.”

Beyond his own challenge this week, Garcia highlighted the growing role The International Series plays in accelerating young talent, pointing to the progress of Fireballs GC teammate Josele Ballester, who claimed his first professional victory at the PIF Saudi International last year before adding a tied-third finish at the Singapore Open earlier this season.

“Without a doubt,” Garcia said when asked about the Series as a development platform. “And for us too, to keep sharp and play against some really good players and really good up-and-coming players. It’s fun to be here and test our games a little bit, maybe try a few new things here and there.”

Garcia also believes the growth of golf will increasingly be driven by expanding the game beyond its traditional strongholds, a mission he sees reflected in both LIV Golf's global schedule and The International Series' international footprint.

“I think golf is a global game, and that’s where we try to take it,” he said. “One of the key things we do at LIV is travel to many different parts of the world and give countries that don’t always get to see a lot of golf, or many big-name players, the opportunity to experience it.”

“I think it’s important to try to be in as many places as possible. Morocco, the Middle East and Asia are big markets, and we’re happy to try to do our part there.”
