Foos rebounds in style to climb into top 15 on International Series Rankings

(Chiba, Japan, 7 April 2026) Germany’s Dominic Foos delivered one of the standout finishes of the week at The International Series 2026 opener in Japan, bouncing back from a three-over-par third round with a composed, bogey-free eight-under-par final round to surge into the top 15 on the Rankings ahead of the next stop in Singapore.

The 28-year-old’s closing charge was a timely response to a frustrating Saturday, underlining both his resilience and growing consistency on the pathway.

Reflecting on his week, Foos felt his overall performance had been solid, with Sunday about sharpening the details. “I actually played well all week, but made some costly mistakes on Saturday,” he said. “Sunday was about keeping things clean, avoiding those errors, and I managed to do that. Eight birdies, no bogeys, I’ll definitely take that.”

A sharper touch on the greens proved decisive. After struggling with three-putts on Saturday, Foos found his rhythm when it mattered most. “I definitely made some more putts,” he added. “Yesterday I played pretty decent but had three three-putts and a couple of loose errors. Just keeping that tidy and rolling a few in made the difference.”

The late surge not only salvaged his week but also strengthened his position in the season-long Rankings race, a pathway Foos has been steadily targeting. A tied-10 finish at International Series Macau previously offered a glimpse of his ability to compete in elite fields, laying the groundwork for a breakthrough 2025 campaign.

That momentum carried into his victory at the SJM Macao Open on the Asian Tour, a result that also earned him a place at LIV Golf Promotions earlier this year, further reinforcing his trajectory on the global stage.

Off the course, Foos drew added energy from familiar support. “It’s great having them [my sister and her fiancé] here this week in Japan, having someone cheer you on,” he said. “We’re staying in Tokyo for a few more days, so it’ll be nice to see the city and spend some time together.”

With confidence restored, attention now turns to Singapore, where the stakes will rise again. Foos has already confirmed his place at the Singapore Open presented by The Business Times at Sentosa Golf Club, which will offer two qualifying spots for The 154th Open through The Open Qualifying Series.

“That’s obviously a big one,” he said. “This week has been great preparation, you get a clear sense of where your game is and what needs sharpening. With a couple of weeks to get ready, hopefully I can arrive in good shape and put in a strong performance there.”
