The next generation of local golfing talent received a masterclass in technique and mental strength on the sidelines of International Series Morocco, with Asian Tour Order of Merit champion John Catlin and local hero Ayoub Lguirati dishing out some top tips and quality advice on how to make it in the professional game.

Twenty boys and girls from the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam Golf Academy attended the session on the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam driving range in an initiative arranged by the RGDES golf academy and The International Series as part of ongoing efforts to grow the game across the region.

Six-time Asian Tour champion Catlin, who won two tournaments and lost two play-offs over the course of a sensational 2024 season, talked the youngsters through shaping the ball and showed them his set up to draw and fade shots.

The American said: "I know when I was young, being around professional players was very inspiring to me, and I hope in some way I can also inspire some of these talented youngsters to embrace and enjoy our wonderful sport."

Lguirati, one of the leading lights in Moroccan golf, added: "This was a great opportunity for our younger players to learn more about the game, from one of the very best in John Catlin.

"Clinics like this, hosted by the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam Golf Academy and The International Series, align perfectly with His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid's wider vision to grow the game, and they play an important role in developing young Moroccan talent and ensuring that the sport is popular among the next generation."

Rahul Singh, Head of The International Series, added: “We have a commitment to growing the game across the region, and it all starts here at grassroots junior level.

“These youngsters had a truly wonderful opportunity to learn from the best in the game, on the regional and international level, and I hope they come away with inspiration, and some special memories they will cherish.”

International Series Morocco is the fourth of 10 elevated events across the Asian Tour calendar which offer a pathway onto the LIV Golf League. The event runs until 6 July and entrance is free.
